1. About these terms
These terms apply to all tours, Nile cruises, packages, day excursions, shore excursions and tailor-made trips sold through excursionofegypt.com by Excursion of Egypt ("we", "us", "our"), a travel company based in Luxor, Egypt. "You" means the person making the booking and everyone travelling under it.
2. Bookings and confirmation
Enquiries sent through our website are not bookings. A booking is confirmed only when we send you written confirmation (by email) and receive the deposit or payment stated in it.
You must give us accurate names, passport details, dates and contact information. Changes caused by incorrect information may carry extra costs.
Where you book on behalf of a group, you confirm you have authority to accept these terms for everyone in it.
3. Prices and payment
- Prices are shown in US dollars unless stated otherwise. Other currencies on the site are indicative conversions.
- Package, tour and cruise prices are per person and depend on the season, room type, number of travellers and dates. The price in your written confirmation is the price that applies to your booking.
- Deposit: [XX]% of the total is due to confirm the booking. The balance is due [XX] days before arrival, or on arrival where we have agreed this in writing.
- Accepted payment methods are listed in your confirmation. Bank or card fees charged by your provider are your responsibility.
- We may correct obvious pricing errors before confirmation. Prices can change for bookings not yet confirmed, for example due to government taxes or entrance-fee increases.
4. What is included
Each tour, cruise and package page lists what is included and not included. Anything not listed, such as international flights, visas, travel insurance, tips and personal expenses, is not included. Optional extras are arranged and charged separately.
Entrance fees, meals and transfers are included only where the page or your confirmation says so.
5. Changes and cancellations by you
Please tell us in writing (email) as early as possible. The date we receive your message is the cancellation date. Unless your confirmation states otherwise, the following applies:
- More than 30 days before arrival: 50% of the deposit refunded.
- 30 to 15 days before arrival: 75% of the total price is charged.
- Fewer than 15 days before arrival, or no-show: 100% of the price is charged.
Nile cruises and services reserved with third parties (cruise ships, hotels, internal flights) may be subject to the supplier's own, stricter cancellation conditions. We will tell you if this applies to your booking.
Where possible we will try to move your booking to another date. Amendment fees charged by suppliers are passed on to you.
6. Changes and cancellations by us
We may need to change an itinerary or substitute a hotel, ship, vehicle or guide of equal standard because of weather, river levels, security, site closures, schedule changes or events beyond our control. We will tell you as soon as we reasonably can and keep any change as close to the original plan as possible.
If we have to cancel a booking for reasons within our control, we will offer you an alternative of similar value or a full refund of the amounts you paid us for the cancelled services.
7. Events beyond our control
We are not liable for failure or delay caused by events outside our reasonable control, including natural events, strikes, epidemics, government restrictions, border or airport closures, and changes in site opening hours. Where possible we will help you rearrange your trip, but extra costs caused by such events are not ours to cover.
8. Your responsibilities as a traveller
- Hold a valid passport and the visa or entry permission required for Egypt. Please check requirements with the Egyptian embassy or official sources before travelling.
- We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering medical costs, cancellation and loss of belongings. Insurance is not included unless stated.
- Be on time for pick-ups. Late arrival may mean a missed service, with no refund.
- Respect local laws, customs, antiquities and dress codes at religious and archaeological sites. Photography rules vary by site.
- Tell us before booking about any medical condition, mobility need or dietary requirement that affects your trip. Some sites involve steps, uneven ground and heat.
- Follow the instructions of your guide, driver and ship crew. We may remove a traveller whose behaviour endangers or disturbs others, without refund.
9. Our responsibility
We take reasonable care in choosing suppliers and arranging your services. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Otherwise, our liability for any one booking is limited to the amount you paid us for it. We are not responsible for loss of, or damage to, belongings, or for services you buy directly from third parties during your trip, such as shops, optional activities or independent operators.
Activities such as hot air balloon flights, desert safaris and camel or horse rides involve inherent risks. Take part at your own risk and follow safety instructions.
10. Problems and complaints
If something is not right during your trip, tell your guide or contact us straight away so we can fix it there and then. If you remain unhappy, write to info@excursionofegypt.com within 30 days of the end of your trip with your booking details. We will reply within 14 days.
11. Using this website
Content on this site (text, photographs, logo and design) belongs to us or our licensors. You may not copy or reuse it for commercial purposes without our written permission. We try to keep information accurate, but descriptions, schedules and photographs are a guide and may change. Links to other websites are not under our control.
12. Privacy
How we collect and use your personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
13. Governing law and changes to these terms
These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt. Courts in [Luxor / Cairo], Egypt have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you have in your country of residence.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force when your booking is confirmed applies to that booking.
